How Manufacturing Ordering Works

Five steps from CAD upload to parts in your hand. Standard geometry in common materials returns a priced quote the same working day.

Step 1 — Upload your CAD
Drag and drop your CAD file (STEP, IGES, STL, DXF, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or native CAD formats). Specify target quantity, material preference with a fallback, surface finish, and any certification scope (aerospace, medical, automotive serial). Multiple parts and full assemblies welcome; there is no minimum order quantity on CNC, sheet metal, 3D printing, or rapid prototyping.
Step 2 — Free DFM review from an assigned engineer
A mechanical engineer is assigned to your project within one working day. They check manufacturability: wall thicknesses, radii, tool access, tolerance feasibility, material availability in the size needed, finishing compatibility, and cost drivers. You receive a written DFM report identifying any issues with suggested fixes — at no cost, whether or not you proceed to order.
Step 3 — Priced quote with lead time
You receive a quote showing unit price with quantity breaks, lead time, included documentation (material certificate, Certificate of Conformity, inspection report if applicable), and shipping terms. Standard geometry in common materials quotes return the same working day; complex assemblies, unusual materials, or regulated-industry scope take 1 to 2 working days with a same-day acknowledgment either way.
Step 4 — Manufacturing and inspection
We route your order to the right qualified European supplier based on process capability, certification tier, and current capacity. In-process quality checks happen at the partner floor; first-article inspection is performed where specified or where certification scope requires it. Material certificates EN 10204 3.1 are generated automatically; 3.2 with heat and batch traceability is available on request.
Step 5 — Pan-European delivery with full documentation
Parts ship via DHL, DPD, or UPS express within the EU, UK, Norway, and Switzerland. Customs handling is included for non-EU destinations. Typical lead time 3 to 9 working days from order confirmation. Every shipment arrives with a Certificate of Conformity, material certificates on metal parts, and any additional inspection or PPAP documentation you requested. Real-time tracking updates from dispatch through delivery.

Why European Engineering Teams Choose Microns Hub

Six concrete differences from digital-marketplace competitors:

An engineer on every project, not an algorithm
Every quote and every order is handled by a named mechanical engineer who reviews the CAD, answers technical questions, handles revisions, and owns the outcome. DFM feedback is engineering feedback, not an automated CAD linter. Regulated-industry documentation is handled by someone who understands what each certification package actually requires.
Documentation as standard, not upsell
EN 10204 3.1 material certificates on metal parts and a Certificate of Conformity with every order — included, not itemized. Advanced documentation (3.2 traceability, FAI per AS9102, PPAP, inspection reports, biocompatibility data, welding qualifications) is priced transparently when requested, not hidden behind tiered pricing plans.
Realistic, committed lead times
When a quote says 7 working days, the part ships on working day 7. We refuse to publish optimistic lead times we cannot consistently hit. Rush tracks compress lead time by 30 to 40 percent at a clearly disclosed surcharge — no gaming the expectation on either side.
European by default — data, invoicing, logistics, language
Customer data and CAD files stored in EU data centers, GDPR-compliant processing, VAT-compliant invoicing with valid EL VAT ID, 14 languages supported end-to-end, pan-European shipping with customs handling included. A customer in Milan quotes in Italian; a customer in Warsaw invoices in PLN with NET30 terms.
No minimum orders, no arbitrary floors
A single prototype is welcome and priced as such. We explicitly refuse to impose minimum-order-quantity rules that penalize early-stage hardware teams, student projects, R&D work, and research labs. Injection molding has a natural volume floor from tooling cost — everywhere else, 1 piece is fine.
Transparent pricing — quoted equals invoiced
The price on the quote is the price on the invoice. No last-minute material adders, no surprise shipping charges, no hidden documentation fees. If our cost changes, we absorb it. If you change scope, we requote openly before proceeding.

Quality, Certifications & Documentation

We operate a vetted European supplier network rather than a single in-house workshop, which lets us match each project to the right certification tier without being constrained by one factory floor. Base quality is ISO 9001:2015 across the network. For aerospace work, AS9100D and EN 9100 partners are available with FAI per AS9102 and material traceability by heat and batch. For medical production, ISO 13485 partners deliver biocompatibility documentation, electropolishing to Ra 0.4 µm, and cleanroom Class 100,000 packaging. For automotive serial production, IATF 16949 partners deliver PPAP (Part Submission Warrant, FMEA, control plans, dimensional reports, process capability studies). Welded assemblies can be produced per ISO 3834-2 with documented WPS, WPQR, and welder qualifications. Pressure equipment scope is handled per PED 2014/68/EU with full NDT reports.

Every supplier is qualified against process capability, certification portfolio, lead-time reliability, and documentation completeness before being added to the network. Regulated-industry orders are routed only to partners whose certifications cover the specific scope. We state which partner tier was used on the quote and the final documentation package, so your internal audit trail is complete without additional requests from your quality team.

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast can I get a priced quote?
Upload your CAD on the quote page with quantity, material, and finish. For standard geometry in common materials, priced quotes return the same working day — often within hours. Complex multi-process assemblies, unusual materials, or regulated-industry scope (aerospace, medical, IATF 16949 serial production) take 1 to 2 working days with a same-working-day acknowledgment either way.
What is the minimum order quantity?
No minimums on CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing, or rapid prototyping. A single prototype is welcome and priced as such. Injection molding has a practical minimum around 100 parts due to tooling investment; below that, we recommend urethane casting or CNC-machined production runs.
Where do you ship?
Pan-European: all EU member states plus the UK, Norway, and Switzerland. Parts ship via DHL, DPD, or UPS express. Customs handling is included for non-EU destinations. Typical lead time 3 to 9 working days depending on process, finish, and quantity. Rush shipping is available for pre-competition Formula Student orders and production-line-down urgent work.
Do you handle regulated industries like aerospace and medical?
Yes. AS9100D / EN 9100 certified partners for aerospace with FAI per AS9102 and full heat-and-batch traceability. ISO 13485 partners for medical with biocompatibility documentation, passivation per ASTM A967, and cleanroom packaging. IATF 16949 for automotive serial production with PPAP. Identify the regulatory scope when you request a quote and we route to appropriate partners.
What certifications do your partners hold?
Our baseline across the network is ISO 9001:2015. Specialized partners hold AS9100D / EN 9100 for aerospace, ISO 13485 for medical, IATF 16949 for automotive serial production, ISO 3834-2 for welded assemblies, and PED 2014/68/EU for pressure equipment. We match the certification tier to your specific project scope and state which partner tier was used on the quote and documentation.
What languages is the platform available in?
Fourteen languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Hungarian, and Czech. Customer communication, quoting, and documentation can be in any of these. Technical quoting is always also available in English so regional engineers and central procurement teams can collaborate on the same quote.
What payment terms do you offer?
Card payment, bank transfer, and PO-based invoicing. Institutional accounts — universities, research labs, large OEMs — can be set up with NET30 or NET60 terms on verified orders with valid VAT ID. We can invoice in EUR as standard and issue VAT-exempt intra-EU invoices where applicable. For Formula Student and research lab orders, educational pricing is applied on request.
